Oncology Hero of the Month: Jenny Cross, RN, BSN, OCN
Nebraska Methodist Hospital | Incidental Lung Nodule Program, Nurse Navigator
At Azra AI, we know that technology alone does not transform cancer care. It is the clinicians behind it, the ones showing up every day for their patients, who make the difference. Each month, we celebrate one of those clinicians through our Oncology Hero of the Month program.
This month, we are honored to spotlight Jenny Cross, RN, BSN, OCN, a Nurse Navigator at Nebraska Methodist Hospital's Incidental Lung Nodule Program. Jenny was nominated by Azra AI's own Cherry Calalang, MSN, RN, AOCNS, in recognition of the exceptional care and dedication she brings to her patients every day.
We asked Jenny to share her story in her own words.
What drew you to oncology?
"I was not initially planning to go into oncology when I started nursing, but I was assigned to an oncology floor early in my career. It turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened to me."
What has kept you there for 15 years?
"The patients. Their resilience, strength, and perspective are incredibly inspiring. Being able to support them through some of the most challenging times in their lives has made my work feel meaningful."
How do you recharge outside of work?
"My family! They keep me grounded and remind me why the work I do matters."
How would you describe your team in one word?
"Caring."
How has technology changed the way you care for patients?
"It has given us the opportunity to identify potential cancers earlier, which can make a critical difference in outcomes."
What is the mantra you live by?
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
Jenny Cross represents exactly the kind of clinician that inspires everything we build at Azra AI. Her dedication, compassion, and commitment to her patients are a reminder of why early identification and seamless care coordination are not just features. They are responsibilities.
Thank you, Jenny, for the work you do every day.
